Crocs and escalators - not a safe mix!
Just this past week, while shopping with my daughter, we witnessed a small child have his croc chewed up by the escalator. For me, it was devastating to see the child standing there while his parents calmly watched his shoe(with the foot safely out), LOUDLY being chewed apart. I wanted to run over and hold the chiild, and tell him it was ok… by the time the family of 3(mom, dad, and the child who looked to be about 4) reached the bottom, his CROC was not recognizable. So many scenarios played in my mind…what if he didn’t remove his foot on time? what would his parents have done if he was in need of urgent help?…
This accident happened in seconds, and I’ve learned it is quite a common occurance. Gladly, none of my 3 daughters wear crocs (they ARE ugly after all), but my 7 year old points out the soft shoe warning sign on the escalator all the time. The parents mentioned above must not have seen this sign (with the big red lettering and CROC picture)
There are only a few crocs that I can say are actually cute! Here is the Crocs Kids Athens slide, that my neice owns. I think they are totally cute, but I am not sure of there safety on mall escalators, so when in doubt, use the stairs…it’s better for you anyway
